Dance School

Inspiring the Next Generation

Jack Richardson School of Dance was created from a passion for sharing the joy of dance. Drawing on his own years of professional training and experience as a performer, Jack’s vision is to create a welcoming and inspiring place where dancers can learn, grow and build confidence.

The school offers something for dancers at every stage of their journey, from graded ballet classes for young dancers developing their technique and working towards their goals, to contemporary dance classes that encourage creativity, expression and freedom of movement. Adult classes offer a friendly and supportive space to learn something new, return to dance or simply enjoy moving.

Through high-quality, encouraging teaching, every student is supported to develop their skills, explore their creativity and discover what they can achieve — whether they are taking their very first steps or have been dancing for years.

FAQs

Can I start ballet if I have no previous experience?2026-08-17T21:37:07+00:00

Absolutely. Ballet isn’t just for people who have been dancing since they were little. Jack welcomes beginners and will help you build your confidence, technique and understanding of ballet at a pace that feels right for you.

What ages and levels do you teach?2026-08-17T21:37:41+00:00

Jack teaches dancers across a range of ages and abilities, from younger dancers working through graded ballet to adults looking to learn, improve or simply enjoy dancing. If you’re unsure which class is right for you, just get in touch and Jack will be happy to help.

Do you offer adult ballet classes?2026-08-17T21:38:16+00:00

Yes. Adult ballet is a great way to enjoy dance, improve your strength and flexibility, and learn ballet in a relaxed and welcoming environment. You don’t need to be an experienced dancer — classes can be adapted to suit different levels and abilities.

What should I wear to my first class?2026-08-17T21:38:48+00:00

For your first class, there’s no need to rush out and buy a whole new dance wardrobe. Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. Once you know that ballet is for you, Jack can advise you on the appropriate clothing and footwear for your class.

Can I try a class before signing up?2026-08-17T21:39:31+00:00

Yes. Getting started can feel a little daunting, especially if you’re new to dance, so Jack is happy to help you find the right class and make sure you feel comfortable before committing.

How do I know which class is right for me?2026-08-17T21:39:55+00:00

If you’re not sure where to start, don’t worry. Get in touch with Jack and let him know your age, experience and what you’re hoping to get from your classes. He can recommend the most suitable option for you.

What can I expect from my first class?2026-08-20T20:05:34+00:00

Expect to learn, move, work hard and have fun. Jack’s approach is friendly and supportive, with a focus on helping you understand the technique while feeling comfortable in the studio. There’s no expectation that you’ll get everything right straight away — that’s what learning is all about.

Do I need ballet shoes?2026-08-20T20:06:42+00:00

Ballet shoes are recommended, but you don’t necessarily need to have them before your first class. If you’re completely new to ballet, speak to Jack first and he can advise you on what you need.

I used to dance but haven’t danced for years. Can I come back?2026-08-20T20:07:21+00:00

Of course. You’re never too old to get back into ballet. Classes can be a great way to reconnect with something you enjoyed before, while rebuilding your strength, technique and confidence.

Can I join a class if the term has already started?2026-08-20T20:07:48+00:00

Depending on the class and availability, it may be possible to join part-way through a term. Get in touch with Jack to find out what classes have spaces available.

Do I need to take ballet exams?2026-08-20T20:08:24+00:00

Not at all. Exams can be a great goal for dancers who enjoy working towards them, but they aren’t the only reason to take ballet. Classes can also be about developing your technique, building confidence and simply enjoying dancing.

Can Jack help me prepare for ballet exams or auditions?2026-08-20T20:08:41+00:00

Yes. Jack can provide focused coaching to help dancers prepare for exams, auditions and other performance opportunities, with sessions tailored to the individual dancer and their goals.

Do you offer private lessons?2026-08-20T20:09:04+00:00

Private tuition can be a great option if you’re looking for more individual support, want to work on a particular aspect of your technique, or are preparing for an audition or exam. Contact Jack to discuss what you’re looking to achieve.
